Setting up the Nikon NX MobileAir app for Impulse

In this guide we'll walk through how to configure the Nikon NX MobileAir app to upload your pictures to Impulse in real time. This guide assumes you know how to plug in you camera to your phone, if that's not the case checkout this guide.
Overview
The Nikon NX MobileAir app lets you hard-wire your camera to your phone which will then receive the pictures as soon as they are taken and transfer them to the Impulse cloud using our SFTP server.

Camera compatibility
Before we get started, you'll have to make sure your camera is compatible with the Canon app. Head to the Camera Compatibility page to check if your model is compatible, make sure it says "Compatible with Nikon NX MobileAir".
If your camera is not compatible don't worry! You can always upload your picture from our web interface, setup a Google Drive, Dropbox folder or do regular SD card drops to the SFTP. Checkout this guide to know more.
Configuring your camera
Nikon cameras generally work pretty well right away, but there are a few things you might need to adjust in the camera settings:
Make sure to shoot in JPEG, Impulse will not accept RAW files.
If you are shooting only for Impulse we recommend setting your "Image quality" setting to no RAW, only Medium JPEG
If you require RAW or big JPEGs for post-processing, the app can automatically ignore RAW files so you can shoot in RAW+JPEG. Be mindful of upload speed: shooting big JPEGs will take significantly more time to upload.
Make sure your camera has an SD card inserted. The app will not work if the camera doesn't have an SD card.
Configuring the app
Let's walks through how to setup the app from scratch. First we need to register the SFTP server in the app, then we will create an "Album" which is how the app will know to automatically upload the pictures you shoot.
Download the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nikon.nxmoba
If this is your first time opening the app it requires you to allow some permissions and accept some terms

The app opens to an empty list of "Albums", first we need to register the Impulse SFTP server in the app
Click the gear icon on the top left
In the list of settings click on "FTP presets"
This takes you to the list of registered FTP/SFTP servers
Click the "+" button at the top right to register a new server

This takes you to the server configuration page, use the following settings:
Server type: SFTP
Server address: sftp.impul.co
Folder is left empty
Port: 22
Login ID: {var:sftpUser}
Password: {var:sftpPassword}
Then click "Test connect and save preset". If you get an error make sure your credentials are correct. If you get errors after double checking all the settings don't hesitate to contact your Impulse representative

Back out of the FTP list, all the way to the first screen that shows an empty list of "Albums"
Click on the "+" button at the bottom right to create a new album. This is where we will configure the app to automatically upload to the SFTP server we just registered

Use these settings:
Import when camera connect: Import
Pictures for import: All JPEG pictures
Destination can be left as the default setting
Append IPTC data during import can be left unchecked
Upload automatically after import should be enabled, this will show a few additional settings
FTP server: Select the server we just create in the previous step
Auto straighten can be left unchecked
Resize files (JPEG) can be left unchecked
Analyze on import should be turned off

This is what your final settings page should look like. Once everything is correctly setup, click "Finish" at the top right

From there you should see the album you just created and you should be able to connect your camera to your phone and have the pictures auto import

If you're having trouble connecting the phone and the camera try some of these:
Unplug/replug the cable while the camera is on
Turn off/on the camera while the cable is connected
Kill and restart the app
